This Spring Mr. Herrington’s Law and Public Safety Class had an incredible hands-on learning experience during their field trip to the Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
At Brewton PD, students got to see a drone demonstration, explore where evidence is stored and fingerprints are collected, visit the interrogation room, the magistrate’s office, and the dispatch center.
Over at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, students toured the county jail, learned how inmates are housed, discovered how much it costs to feed an inmate each day, and visited the book-in area where mugshots are taken. They also took part in room clearing training and had a blast participating in simunition training - a real eye-opener into law enforcement tactics and safety.
A special thank you to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office for not only taking the time to educate our students but also for feeding them! Your hospitality and support are truly appreciated.
This was an unforgettable and educational experience for some of our future public safety professionals!
